Within the breast, one can find the Coopers Ligaments. These ligaments, are the things which support the beast during normal, everyday activity. If not supported properly, then the repetitive bounce action caused through activity such as running can lead to irreversible stretching of the Coopers Ligaments. Naturally, this then leads to less support with obvious consequences.
In addition to the damage to Coppers Ligaments, failure to wear the right sports bra allows the breasts to move both up and down and from side to side. This in turn leads to Joggers Nipple an affliction normally suffered by males but in the case of incorrect support, also women.
Finally, failure to provide adequate support for the breast could also lead to tension and strain across the upper back and neck. In particular, this applies to larger breasted women.
The obvious solution to the problems outlined above is to wear a proper sports bra. Just remember that they do need changing, approximately in line with when your shoes wear out.
